I’m excited for these nights at The Delancey (168 Delancey on the LES) like a cake baked in a pie baked in a cake – aka a Cherpumple.
Seriously, there are two for one drinks ALL NIGHT. There is really good lighting. A big fat sultry embrace of all our musical idiosyncrasies and crazies. Plus where else can you go to stay late and play musical chairs on a Monday night?
This event starts promptly at 8:30. In order of appearance:

JASON TRACHTENBURG – is the legendary force behind the Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players and Pendulum Swings. His ability to balance musical grace with uproarious comedy is stunning. He will perform a solo set this evening full of folk songs new and old.

HOUSEHOLD TALES – Household Tales is a Rock N’ Roll band for the Postlapsarian Age. Songs about truck drivers on the open road, woodsmoke, digging your own grave, escaped lions, Philadelphia, baleful drunks, and pregnant women are played on guitars, contrabass, drums, saxophone, clarinet, flute, cello, voices, and found objects. Household Tales sounds like your choice of the following (pick 3):
a train leaving the station with your true love aboard
leaves crunching under foot as you go deeper into the woods
the midnight ramblings of a mad genius
an advertisement for a place that doesn’t exist
breath filling your lungs just before you laugh or cry

JUNKYARD WITH MARSH – a duo for violin and yells featuring the lovely Hunter Francis Jack.
LES FILLES FöLLEN – ENTRANCE WITH CHARGE: TWO GIRLS SMOKE A CIGARETTE IN ONLY 30 SECONDS
Appearances are deceptive and distracting. We can all allow ourselves to be deceived. Fascination and aesthetic perception melt away when faced with the attraction of something unknown but worthy of value for its exceptional nature.
Therefore, appearances can transmit one set of emotions, while quite the contrary is true. Although we are aware of this, it is still easy to let ourselves get carried away, so deception is an easy trick we find hard to resist. We can always say that our appearance was given to us at birth. http://www.lesfillesfollen.com/
BIG PLASTIC FINGER – post post post everything quartet for sax, guitar, drums, bass. Self-described as Somewhere beyond the flickering abyss of cyberspace, a new quartet plays space-jazz with healthy doses of the Canterbury improv scene (Robert Wyatt, Derek Bailey), Sun Ra, and Ash Ra Tempel.

The first 5 folks to arrive at or before 8:30 get a cupcake. No doubt.
