The Brooklyn Experimental Song Revival is an ongoing series hosted by The Super Coda at a revolving set of Brooklyn venues. These events culminate in Carnivals (festivals), the next one tentatively scheduled for June, 2016.
the Revival features artists who orbit the notion of song as a creative medium that surpasses/undermines popular notions of what songs “do”. we surpass/strip down/spit out songs that exist in a marketable fugue state, formatted as a fully saturated & spaceless narrative, devoid of thoughtful engagement.
in the simplest sense, the Revival is an opportunity for artists to present work that unifies voice and sound. there are no requirements beyond engaging the frame of “song” and presenting a piece/set/performance with care/abandon/absolute celebration for the human narrative, in all it’s bizarre and loving incarnations.
